I Do

I wrote this piece for my brother and his wife when they got married. We couldn’t attend their wedding as it was Covid time, and they decided to get married on a beach in the Maldives, just the two of them. Best way to get married, IMO.

A journey that began with 3 simple words,
Has come full circle with two.
You’ll said “I Love You” then,
And now on a beach, it was “I Do!”

And as the chapter ends,
A new one has begun;
Like birds of a feather, flock together,
And fly up high as one.

For better, for worse, in sickness and in health,
A part of each other you’ll have become,
Cherish your flaws as much as your strengths,
That’s the only rule of thumb.

There’s not much to say,
That you don’t already know.
I do want to say I love you both,
Although it doesn’t always show.

Life’s going to be a roller coaster,
So welcome to your new beginning,
Hold on to each other right,
Cause this ride is going to be thrilling.
